FAQs

  • Reach out by text or email to get on my calendar for a brief conversation — or just put yourself on my schedule using the link above. We’ll talk about your hopes and needs and about how I work. If we decide we might work well together, we’ll schedule your first session.

  • I accept payment directly from those who work with me.

I do not accept insurance. For me, this is an ethics-based decision. A person holding grief or partners resolving conflict are people facing problems, but insurance would require they be diagnosed with a mental health disorder. There is no code to bill insurance for couple’s counseling, for example, only family therapy where one person is identified as a patient and sessions focus on treating their diagnosed disorder.

I believe diagnosis is often unnecessary or inappropriate; I believe that my work should reflect what best suits my clients’ needs and my skills, not limited by what an outside company deems necessary; I believe that I provide better care if my practice is financially sustainable; and I believe there are alternative ways to make therapy financially accessible to those who seek it.

I reserve some lower-cost spots in my practice for those who could otherwise not access therapy with me.

People paying for health care services out of pocket are entitled by federal law to a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges. You may ask for an estimate before your first scheduled session or at any time while receiving services. For more information see: www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes. Longer sessions of 80 or 110 minutes are available and can be especially useful for couples, families, friend groups, and polycules.
